T 22.01

Chongzi

On the thenar eminence, about 1 cun below the first and second metacarpal skin fold.

T 22.02

Chongxian

On the thenar eminence, between the first and second metacarpal bones, 1 cun below Chongzi (T 22.01), 2 cun from the skin fold. It is exactly on the opposite side of Linggu (T 22.05), which is on the dorsal aspect of the hand.

T 22.03

Shangbai

This point is located on the dorsal aspect of the hand between the index and middle fingers, 0.5 cun proximal to the MCP joints of these fingers.

T 22.04

Dabai

There are discrepancies among different sources as to the exact location of this point. Some references state this point overlaps with Sanjian (LI 3) and some say Hegu (LI 4). Therefore, palpate for the most tender point and needle the ah shi point on or between these two points.

T 22.05

Linggu

This point is located on the LI channel, on the dorsal aspect of the hand, at the junction between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones, proximal to Hegu (LI 4). This point is directly opposite to Chongxian (T 22.02).

T 22.06

Zhongbai

This point is located on the TH channel and overlaps with Zhongzhu (TH 3), which is on the dorsal aspect of the hand between the ring and little fingers, 0.5 cun proximal to the MCP joints of these fingers.

T 22.07

Xiabai

This point is located on the TH channel and overlaps with the extra point Yao Tong Xue, which is between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, 1.5 cun proximal to the MCP joints of these two fingers. It is 1 cun posterior to Zhongbai (T 22.06).

T 22.08

Wanshunyi

This point is on the ulnar margin of the hand at the junction of the red and white skin, 2.5 cun distal to the wrist joint crease, or 0.5 cun proximal to Houxi (SI 3), which is proximal to the 5th MCP joint.

T 22.09

Wanshuner

This point is on the ulnar margin of the hand at the junction of the red and white skin, 1.5 cun distal to the wrist joint, 1 cun proximal to Wanshunyi (T 22.08).

T 22.10

Shoujie

This point is a two-point set on the palmar aspect of the hand, along the HT channel between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones. The first point overlaps with Shaofu (HT 8), which is where the tip of the little finger touches the palm when a fist is made. In general, this will be on the distal transverse palmar crease. The second point is 0.5 cun proximal to the first point. There are some sources that state this is an individual point (overlapping Shaofu (HT 8)), while others state that it is a three-point set, with the third point being 0.5 cun proximal to the second one.

T 22.11

Tushui

This is a three-point set on the LU channel, on the palmar aspect of the thumb, evenly distributed along the radial margin of the metacarpal bone (line A). The center point overlaps with Yuji (LU 10). The second and third points are 0.5 cun distal and 0.5 cun proximal to the center point.

Fanhoujue*

This point is on the dorsal aspect of the hand, 1 cun distal to Linggu (T 22.05) at the ulnar margin of the first metacarpal bone.

T 22.13

Xiaojie*

This point is on the LU channel, at the junction of the shaft and head of the first metacarpal bone, at the border between the palmar and dorsal aspects of the thumb (line A).

T 22.15

Sanchayi*

When making a fist, this point is on the dorsal aspect of the hand, in the junction between the 2nd and 3rd phalanges.

T 22.16

Sanchaer*

When making a fist, this point is on the dorsal aspect of the hand, in the junction between the 3rd and 4th phalanges.

T 22.17

Sanchasan*

When making a fist, this point is on the dorsal aspect of the hand, in the junction between the 4th and 5th phalanges.

T 22.18

Zhihan*

This point is on the TH channel, on the dorsal aspect of the hand, between the 3rd and 4th metacarpal bones, 1.5 cun proximal to these MCP joints.

T 22.19

Shoujingdian*

This point is on the TH channel, on the dorsal aspect of the hand in between the 3rd and 4th metacarpal bones, 0.5 cun proximal to the MCP joint.

T 22.21

Shanggao*

This point is on the palmar aspect of the hand, along the HT channel between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, 0.5 cun proximal to the second point of Shoujie (T 22.10), along the edge of the 5th metacarpal. Some sources state it is 1 - 1.5 cun proximal to Shaofu (HT 8), which is where the tip of the little finger touches when a fist is made. To determine where to needle, palpate for the strongest ah shi sensation in this area of the palm.

T 22.22

Xiagao*

This point is on the palmar aspect of the hand, along the HT channel between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, 0.5 cun proximal to Shanggao (T 22.21)*, along the edge of the 5th metacarpal. To determine where to needle, palpate for the strongest ah shi sensation in this area of the palm.
